Off the coast of Bergen lies LILLØY, a secluded island retreat by the Lindenberg group — a place where architecture, nature, and craft coexist. Guided by a low-waste, plant-based philosophy, every element is considered: from the seaweed harvested just offshore to the tactile interior finishes shaped by Norwegian design duo Vera & Kyte.
We’re proud that massimo rugs play a part in this dialogue between light, material, and place in a collaboration that turns a remote island into a living canvas of craft and care.

The design duo Vera & Kyte crafted the spatial narrative of LILLØY, combining natural textures, muted tones, and considered contrasts.
Throughout the rooms and boathouse, their refined palette meets the warmth of Massimo rugs — including the Affinity Collection, designed by Vera & Kyte for Massimo, as well as other handcrafted pieces such as Surface collection by Studio Groundwork and Earth Bamboo rugs. Each rug becomes part of the architecture’s texture, grounding the atmosphere in quiet harmony.

Rooted in the rhythm of the island, the interiors merge tradition and modernity, from the restored wooden main house to the sculptural new boathouse that opens directly to the sea. Light shifts gently through each space, revealing quiet layers of texture and tone.

The project has been widely celebrated — awarded Best Interior (Commercial) at the DS Awards / Designers’ Saturday 2025, and featured in Vogue France, Vogue Living Netherlands, and Condé Nast Traveler, praised for its dreamlike, tactile expression of Scandinavian design.
