Code of Conduct
Introduction: Our Values
We are committed to responsible and sustainable production and trade. Ensuring that our business operates under responsible conditions and with conscious intent is at the core of our commitment to our partners. We expect our partners, suppliers, agents, and collaborators across the organization to act responsibly and adhere to this Code of Conduct when working with Massimo Copenhagen.
We create handmade rugs with respect for people, materials, and the environment. This Code of Conduct outlines the requirements and expectations we place on ourselves and all actors within our value chain.
We believe in long-term partnerships, transparency, and the idea that true craftsmanship and responsibility go hand in hand. This Code of Conduct guides both us and our partners in acting with integrity and a long-term mindset.
1. Human and Labour Rights
1.1 Prohibition of Forced Labour
We tolerate no form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour. All workers must be free to leave their workplace with reasonable notice.
1.2 Prohibition of Child Labour
Child labour is strictly prohibited throughout Massimo’s value chain. This applies to all levels of production and supplier partnerships and includes both direct and indirect actors.
1.3 Discrimination and Harassment
Discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, political beliefs, or any other status must not occur. All forms of harassment are strictly forbidden.
1.4 Wages and Working Hours
Workers must receive at least the legal minimum wage. Working hours must comply with national laws and regulations in the relevant country.
1.5 Workplace Health and Safety
Suppliers must ensure a healthy and safe working environment that meets national requirements. Workplaces must be free from hazards and provide access to first aid, fire safety, and adequate protection against occupational injuries.
2. Ethical Business Conduct
2.1 Anti-Corruption and Bribery
No form of corruption, extortion, bribery, or improper influence is tolerated. Gifts, hospitality, or benefits must not be used to influence business decisions.
2.2 Confidentiality and Data Protection
All partners must protect confidential information and handle personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.
2.3 Supplier Compliance
All suppliers are expected to comply with national legislation, regulations, and industry standards relevant to their business operations.
3. Environmental Responsibility
3.1 Reducing Environmental Impact in the Value Chain
Massimo Copenhagen aims to minimize environmental impact across the value chain and optimize our supply chain to better understand and reduce emissions and footprint.
3.2 Compliance with Environmental Laws and Permits
Suppliers and partners must carry out all activities in full compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations. This includes obtaining and maintaining all required registrations, permits, and certificates.
3.3 Environmental Improvements and Responsible Production
We expect everyone in the value chain to take responsibility for their environmental impact and to continuously develop their production processes in an environmentally positive direction. This includes reducing energy, water, and raw material consumption, and minimizing the use of chemicals in all productions and collections.
3.4 Internal Environmental Efforts and Waste Management
At Massimo headquarters, we sort waste in accordance with Danish legislation and continuously develop initiatives in areas such as transportation, energy use, and consumption. We pursue circular solutions and contribute to sustainable practices wherever possible.
3.5 Transparency and Environmental Data
We encourage our suppliers to share relevant data on environmental impact — such as energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, and waste — so that we can jointly measure and improve performance.
4. Quality
We expect all partners and suppliers to comply with the following principles of product quality:
- Products must meet the technical and aesthetic quality standards agreed upon with Massimo Copenhagen.
- Production must respect craftsmanship and prioritize precision and consistency.
- High-quality materials must be used, tested, and documented in accordance with relevant standards.
- Quality control must be conducted continuously during and after production to ensure defect-free deliveries.
- There must be clear procedures for handling complaints and quality deviations.
We also expect suppliers to work proactively on continuous improvements and to be open to dialogue and training aimed at securing a high and stable level of quality over time.
5. Business Practices and Responsible Sourcing
5.1 Social and Environmental Due Diligence
Suppliers must be able to present valid social audits (such as BSCI, SA8000, SMETA) and document relevant measures. Massimo Copenhagen conducts regular risk assessments and expects cooperation in any corrective actions deemed necessary.
5.2 Subsuppliers and Traceability
It is the supplier’s responsibility to disclose any use of subcontractors. There must be transparency throughout the value chain, from raw materials to the final product.
6. Reporting and Follow-Up
6.1 Whistleblower Mechanism
All partners must have the opportunity to report concerns about violations of this Code of Conduct anonymously and without fear of retaliation.
6.2 Consequences of Violation
Repeated or serious breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in the termination of collaboration.
Massimo Copenhagen expects this Code of Conduct to be known and respected by all actors in our value chain. We believe that cooperation, respect, and responsibility are the foundation for long-term partnerships and sustainable development.
